InfoNile And Impact Borderless Digital Partner To Empower Youth Through Media And Mentorship

InfoNile Communications Ltd and Impact Borderless Digital (IBD) have entered into a strategic mutual understanding to collaborate on youth skills development, career mentorship, and education through media platforms. The new partnership aims to bridge the gap in communication and employability skills among African youth by leveraging the transformative power of digital storytelling and structured mentorship.

During a recent courtesy call, InfoNile Founder & Executive Director Bill Otieno met with Dr.-Ing. Nashon Adero, Founder of IBD and a lecturer at Taita Taveta University in Voi, Kenya. The two leaders held an in-depth engagement on impactful strategies for media-driven youth empowerment, emphasizing the critical need for career guidance initiatives that are both scalable and contextually relevant.

“This collaboration opens a new chapter in empowering young people with the tools, knowledge, and platforms they need to thrive in the digital age,” said Bill Otieno, a seasoned journalist with 10 years in broadcast Journalism and environmental enthusiast.

Dr.-Ing. Adero, a renowned geospatial and systems modelling expert, brings to the table over 15 years of interdisciplinary experience spanning research, teaching, consultancy, and public service. His advocacy for holistic youth mentorship stems from years of engaging with students and early-career professionals across the continent.

In 2020, Adero won the prestigious African Lecturers’ Prize in the DAAD/ACCESS Idea Competition for his innovative solutions addressing youth unemployment through higher education curriculum reform. He has since continued to call attention to the “mentorship vacuum” he says exists in many African training programs.

Young people in Africa are not just undertrained—they’re often misaligned with the realities of the job market due to poor mentorship structures,” said Dr. Adero. “We must link academia, industry, and government through media that speaks the language of the youth.”

The InfoNile-IBD collaboration will focus on co-creating multimedia educational content, organizing mentorship forums, and building storytelling platforms where young voices can be heard. The partners aim to champion digital literacy and professional growth by integrating data-driven media with real-world career support.

As the continent grapples with youth unemployment and a rapidly changing digital economy, this partnership represents a timely and strategic intervention that blends innovation with mentorship to drive sustainable development from the grassroots.
